Jayson Carnes brings over three decades of experience in the home improvement and outdoor living industry to his role as Owner and President of Air Vent Exteriors. Starting as an installer, he worked his way through sales and management into ownership, leading to a deep, hands-on understanding of every part of the business.
Under his leadership, Air Vent Exteriors has cultivated a strong company culture and achieved remarkable growth. Jayson is passionate about helping homeowners bring their outdoor living visions to life and loves seeing how each project enhances their daily routines.
Outside of work, Jayson enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, volunteering with local organizations, and exploring new destinations through travel.

With more than 21 years of experience in the outdoor living and home improvement industry, Scott Melton plays a key role in helping homeowners and businesses transform their spaces through thoughtful shade and enclosure solutions. As Owner and Sales Manager at Air Vent Exteriors, Scott specializes in commercial canopy sales and design as well as residential home improvement solutions, bringing both creativity and technical expertise to every project.
Scott’s proudest professional achievements include leading the company’s first large-scale commercial canopy contract at Asheville Outlets and contributing to the company’s steady growth over the past two decades. What motivates him most is seeing customers’ reactions once their projects are complete. Making customers genuinely happy is what drives him every day.
Outside of work, Scott enjoys traveling, playing golf, and cheering on the UNC Tar Heels and the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

Spencer Carnes
Owner/Vice President & Operations Manager
As an Owner and Vice President/Operations Manager, Spencer Carnes combines a strong operational background with a customer-focused mindset to help Air Vent Exteriors deliver exceptional outdoor living solutions across Western North Carolina. Before joining the company in a leadership capacity, Spencer spent 10 years with True Homes, the largest privately owned home builder in the Carolinas, focusing on problem-solving, operational improvement, and customer experience.
Spencer grew up immersed in the business, spending his summers working in the sewing shop and installing products at Air Vent Exteriors. Today, as a fourth-generation member of the family business and part of the ownership team for the past 2.5 years, he’s proud to help carry forward the company’s legacy while driving innovation and efficiency.
Among his accomplishments, Spencer collaborated with the HR Manager to implement a personality assessment program for the leadership team, enhancing communication, self-awareness, and alignment across the company. He’s also deeply committed to community impact, supporting initiatives like the annual Day of Service and supporting community donations that make a real difference locally.
An Appalachian State graduate, Spencer enjoys spending time with his wife and son, relaxing at the beach, and exploring new restaurants and local businesses. He’s motivated by creating solutions that improve customers’ lives.
